Description: In this paper the author, based on inquisitorial and notarial sources, analyzes the socio-economic profile and the habitat of the Jewish community of Mallén (Zaragoza) from its origins, in the first decade of the 15th century, until its extinction in 1492, when a portion opts to emigrate to Navarre and the other chooses baptism. The collective, composed of approximately twenty families – with a large presence of craftsmen: tailors (47%), weavers (20%) and shoemakers (20%), and a minority of small merchants who provide modest loans of wheat – , has the peculiarity that, while the village belongs to the Military Order of Saint John of the Hospital, the Jews depend on the aljama of Borja, which caused many jurisdictional conflicts.
