Context: Few studies enable to carry out an inventory of injuries and rehabilitation of a physiotherapist in a women’s rugby team playing in the French championship. Objectives: The objective was to analyze the incidence of sports-related injuries in a women’s team. Then the management of an injured sportsperson by the physiotherapist, the impact of the injury on her quality of life and her return to play. Methods: This was a monocentric retrospective study. The included cases were over 18, female and playing Elite 1. They had to play rugby for over a year and to have suffered from one injury at least. A first questionnaire analysed the incidence of injuries and the impact on their quality of life. The second concerned rehabilitation and player satisfaction. Forty-three players out of 62 players completed the questionnaires. Results: Forty-one players had an injury requiring a sports leave of more than 48 hours, including 27 injuries of their lower limb (66%), and 10 injuries of their upper limb (24%). “Serious” injuries (11 cases) or “severe” injuries (16 cases), such as ankle sprains and cruciate ligament breaks, had a greater impact on their quality of life than “mild” or “moderate” injuries (p=0.03). The seriousness of the injury was in correlation with significant joint stiffness (p=0.002). The handling of the physiotherapist was considered correct in 80% of the cases. Conclusion: The injury rate including a sports leave was important in a women’s rugby team. Serious and severe injuries had a significant impact on the athlete’s quality of life. The job of the physiotherapist is essential to treat all the injuries efficiently.es_ES
